eLiberatica 2007: Very short review
The biggest FLOSS event of the year has ended. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do LiveBlogging and, due to some personal problems, I wasn’t even able to be there on the second day, but I’ll do a short review of some sessions from the first day.
First of all, congratulations to Lucian Savluc and Zak Greant for organizing this event. I don’t think this was possible without their participation.
The Opening Ceremony was held by Lucian, which talked a little about eLiberatica‘s objectives and FLOSS. After that, Zak gave us a more in-depth presentation about FLOSS. I liked that although he had problems with his MacBook connecting to the video projector, he was relaxed and he held his presentation on a Windows notebook, with the notes on his MacBook. Brian Behlendorf‘s notebook was the first Linux notebook which was able to connect to the video projector and he held a session about “Open Source and the Choice to Cooperate”. After the coffee break, Georg Greve from FSFE told us how/why to advocacy open standards in Romania and he assured us that if we need help doing this he will be happy to give us a hand. I think Kurt von Finck from Ubuntu was the most expected person at this conference. He explained what is Ubuntu, what’s the philosophy behind, what Ubuntu guarantees and how can we get involved. Rasmus Lerdorf couldn’t be there, and there was a video Q&A session presented by Zak. After that Zak took an open discussion on how can we start a business from Free/Open Source Software which was very interesting. Remus Cazacu, the BIT Software General Manager showed us his company’s Open Source project, Socrate Open, which is based on Compiere and explained us what are the pros and the cons on doing business with OSS. He tried not to do a commercial presentation, and he achieved his goal very well, showing us that you can do business with OSS. Alexandru Lapusan and Alexandru Novac from Zitec also showed us how they made business with Open Source. Bogdan Radulescu, Main NimbleX Developer presented his project, what can we do with NimbleX, and what he intends to do with it. The presentation wasn’t very proffy but I would like to send him my congratulations for the initiative and I’ll try to give him a hand on his project.
I’m sorry for not giving a longer review, but all was much easier if I had a laptop with me to do LiveBlogging… I can’t wait for the next event to take place.

24h left to eLiberatica
Less than 24h left till eLiberatica conference will start and I still don’t have a laptop to do live-blogging from there 
Alina Mierlus, which helds the OSCAR presentation at eLiberatica said she’ll try to get her laptop with her, but there’s nothing for sure… Anyone who can give me a laptop for those 2 days for live-blogging from the event will be rewarded with a beer for every day

Ne vedem la eLiberatica :-)
Lucian Savluc se pare ca a tinut sa-mi faca un cadou de ziua mea (care va fi pe 25 Mai) si m-a anuntat ca sunt fericitul castigator al uneia din cele 2 invitatii gratuite la eLiberatica 
Programul conferintei a fost publicat pe site-ul oficial, insa doar varianta in limba engleza (mai exista cineva care nu stie limba engleza?).
Voi face tot posibilul sa fac live-blogging, cel mai probabil in engleza. Lucian m-a asigurat ca organizarea este impecabila, asa ca ne vedem la eLiberatica

PSD Tricks
Se pare ca PSD e in stare sa faca orice pentru a ajunge la putere. EVZ ne informeaza ca vor imparti flyere si vor lipi afise pe care scrie “Votati DA! Salvati-l pe Basescu”. Targetul acestor afise si flyere este exact populatia mai putin informata – cea din mediul rural. Culmea este ca aceasta campanie este legala.

Procesor la 4Mhz
Ma asez la calculator, chatuiesc un pic, dau drumu la masina virtuala cu CentOS 5 si ce-mi vad ochii? Procesorul meu are doar 4Mhz… Nu ma credeti? Uitati screenshot-ul aici

Dimineata de Sysadmin
In primul rand de azi nu mai fumez.. incerc.. pana acum am reusit In al doilea rand, vorbeam de dimineata cu un prieten la telefon:
El: am uitat sa te trec pe circuitu’ principal aseara…
Eu: pai tocmai d-asta te-am sunat, ca m-a intrebat sefu’ de ce suntem inca pe circuitu’ de backup.
El: mda.. azi in cat suntem? aaa… suntem in luni, nu?
Eu: =)) in luni, a? ) pana mea.. nici eu nu mai stiu in cat suntem.. suntem in 22, 23, 24 pe-acolo.. dreacu’ s-o ia de zi…
El: e bine.. suntem pe aceeasi lungime de unda ) hai ca te mut un pic mai incolo pe circuitu’ principal.
Concluzia este ca azi suntem in luni si este vreo 22, 23, 24, ceva de genu’…

Romanii si drepturile lor
Am aruncat o privire azi la Oradeanul si am ramas praf. Citesc despre Ariel care a fost exmatriculat si Gramo care si-a pierdut jobul, ambii fiindca si-au permis sa aiba o opinie personala pe blogurile lor.
Mi se pare inadmisibil ca intr-o tara care mai nou se considera/este Europeana, sa ni se interzica dreptul la libera exprimare si la opinie in halul asta. Domnilor si doamnelor care reprezentati acele firme care se simt amenintate de noi, bloggerii, mai puneti va rog mana pe Constitutia Romaniei si cititi Articolul 30 sa vedeti cum sta treaba cu dreptul la libera exprimare, cenzura si suprimarea publicatiilor.
Democratie? In Romania?
